School Goals

School Improvement Goals
At McKinney, we are working hard so that each child will reach his or her highest academic and social potential. To do this, we are focusing on the following school improvement goals:
-
The Core- Math, Phonics, Reading, and Writing are essential skills. McKinney uses HSD approved curriculums, in additional to teacher-designed differentiation strategies, to ensure all students have entry points and extension opportunities for students to show deep understanding.
-
Language Supports, Scaffolds and Growing Multilingual/Multiliterate Proficiency- McKinney supports access to instruction for all students by using intentional language supports and scaffolds in all content areas, such as vocabulary, sentence frames, visuals, structured student talk routines, graphic organizers, anchor charts, etc. Our Spanish Literacy program currently supports multilingual students in kinder through 5th grades, and all classrooms K-6 teach the Systematic English Language Development curriculum based on target proficiency level.
-
Transformative Social-Emotion Learning- McKinney students will be able to positively contribute to the learning environment by consistently displaying the five key CASEL and Oregon tSEL standards, which include:
-
Self-Awareness & Identity
-
Responsible Decision-Making & Curiosity.
-
Self-Management & Agency
-
Social-Awareness & Belonging
-
Building Positive Relationships & Collaborative Problem Solving
We focus on a proactive approach to positive behavior recognition, wellness, and restorative practices.
