STEM SCHOOL

McKinney received the designation of being a STEM Transformation School in the spring of 2016. This designation provided additional support to expand the STEM learning in our school. What does STEM learning look like at McKinney?

  • Amplify Science Curriculum in classrooms
  • College Career Pathway Kits: Pre-K through 6th grade
  • Dream Maker Space (robotics, 3D printers, podcast equipment, stop motion animation)
  • Outdoor Garden Classroom

Our goals as a STEM school are to foster a growth mindset where making mistakes is a crucial part of learning, get students to access opportunities to use technology on a regular basis, and provide real-world problems for students to solve.  We are always looking for volunteers to come and discuss how they use STEM every day, so please contact us if you would be willing to do that.

Our STEM Instructional coach is Heather McCullum.  Her email is McCulluH@hsd.k12.or.us and she can help you join our STEM steering committee or volunteer with our STEM work.
